Our Heritage

Shastaragar was born from a passion for history and Sanatan Shastar Vidiya as taught in the Baba Darbara Singh Akhara. Gurdev Nidar Singh Nihang and his shish ("personal student") Nihang Teja Singh, envisioned a space where practitioners of Sanatan Shastar Vidiya, enthusiasts, historians and collectors alike could explore, learn, and preserve the legacies of warriors of the Kshatriya ("Indian warriors"). With an unwavering commitment to authenticity and quality, Shastaragar has become a revered name among collectors and history aficionados worldwide.

Gurdev Nidar Singh and Nihang Teja Singh have advised and demonstrated Sanatan Shastar Vidiya at many internationally renowned institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Wallace Collection, and the British Museum to name a few. 

Our knowledge on Indo-Persian Arms and Armour spans everything from the origins through to how each item is correctly utilised in context of its design; such depth cannot be found anywhere in the world. Our Collection
